Two Suzukis still lead the Rally d'Italia-Sardegna, but the second day has been much more dramatic for Urmo Aava and P-G Andersson than the opening leg. Urmo took a slender lead into leg two, and was passed by P-G on the second stage of the day. On the third stage, Urmo slid wide on a slippery right-hand corner and hit a tree, damaging the rear bodywork of his Swift. On the following stage, after midday service, P-G picked up a front-left puncture that he was forced to stop and change | losing more than two minutes. He still keeps second place behind his team mate, while Urmo and P-G once again set all the fastest stage times of the day.

P-G Andersson (2nd in JRC after SS12):
"In the Junior Championship, your luck can come and go very quickly! I was pleased to take the lead in the morning, but of course the puncture on SS10 meant that I lost it again very quickly. Ironically, the stages today were much less rocky than yesterday but that's the way it goes sometimes. It's really not too bad though as my championship lead gives me a comfortable margin and means that I do not have to push too hard. We had a small brake problem but apart from that everything was fine, so I'm feeling quite optimistic of a good result."

Urmo Aava (1st in JRC after SS12):
"I changed the set-up of the car today to try and find some more traction at the front, but this made the car quite nervous and loose at the rear | which is what caused me to slide wide and hit the tree on SS9. The roads were much more slippery than yesterday but really we were very lucky: it was quite a hard impact and the damage could have been much worse. The Suzuki Swift is clearly a very strong car! There is still a very long way to go, so nothing is decided yet."

Nobuhiro 'Monster' Tajima, team principal:
"The adventures of P-G and Urmo showed us once again just how tricky and unpredictable our sport and this event is! Through it all, the Swift has shown great reliability and strength. Nonetheless there are still six stages to run tomorrow, and with no service in between these will be crucial. The drivers must stay concentrated."
